'Dez' Stuart

We love this picture of Dez, our Horse of the Month for May! Dez is a 19 year old British Spotted Pony who developed laminitis for the first time when he was 16 years old. Around the same time his owner Caitlin also noticed that he was drinking more than usual and so he was tested for Equine Cushing’s disease (PPID). The blood test showed a positive result, and he was prescribed a daily medication to treat this disease. Now that Dez’s condition is managed Caitlin reports that he has a whole new lease of life. “He has more energy than he has ever had before, is loving jumping again and enjoys work…and he definitely isn’t slowing down despite his age and the Equine Cushing’s disease diagnosis!” Thank you so much for sharing Dez’s story with us Caitlin – he’s looking fantastic!
